I Didn't Have to Wear Dance Shoes

So, yesterday, after school, I attended the auditions for Lynbrook's fall play, 'Almost, Maine'. If you haven't read previous posts',  'Almost, Maine' is a series of 9 scenes, each scene takes place in Almost, Maine, and features (usually) a man and a woman figuring out life and relationships and all that jazz.
Mind you, I've never really done a play before. Unless you count a summer camp production of 'Sleeping Beauty' (I don't), or a class written/directed/acted version of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (train wreck, so I don't). Even though I've only done 2 CMT shows, I've gotten used to that audition process; speed there after school, wait in line, fill out mounds of paperwork, get a time slot, wait at starbucks, verifying paperwork, getting a number, taking headshots, learning a dance, then finally auditioning (doing the dance, singing a song), and then FINALLY getting a callback sheet and heading home after 3-4 hours of shenanagins. Crazy, I know.
This audition process was; go to drama studio, fill out basic BASIC info on a piece of paper, reading a scene with a partner. I didn't have to wear dance shoes or anything.

Okay, so it's a couple hours after I wrote that (above paragraph), and today I had callbacks. And at callbacks, we learned that our director/creative team is completely switching which play we are doing. Switching. To a whole 'nother play. Due to our lack of boys. Because a good 90% of them are on fall sports teams. Or swathed in SAT prep books. Or science-y stuff (Lynbrook is known for our vast population of intellectual Asian overachievers. Just kidding. <-- Let's be honest). So our new play is a six-member cast thing entitled 'Do Not Go Gentle.' Link for full synopsis here: http://www.dramaticpublishing.com/p373/Do-Not-Go-Gentle/product_info.html
But for all you lazies (oh yes, you know who you are), in a nutshell the play is above a recently deceased old lady who looks back on her life and her family and there's a lot more to it and if I had my way everyone would die in a skydiving accident (completely kidding). I shall update after the cast list is posted. Fingers crossed!

        See you later,
        Claire
